Neighbourhood Renewal

About Neighbourhood Renewal

Neighbourhood Renewal is about improving quality of life and opportunities in neighbourhoods across the town which experience a significant level of inequalities and disadvantage.

Neighbourhood renewal in Swindon focuses issues within the following key themes:·

  • Health & Employment
  • Education & Skills
  • Community Safety
  • Housing & Environment ·
  • Transport

The Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy and Local Area Agreement for Swindon are the two key documents that are responding to these issues.

The Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy for Swindon identifies the top 10% of neighbourhoods in Swindon demonstrating the highest levels of social, economic and health needs.  These neighbourhoods are

  • Central
  • Park North
  • Park South
  • Penhill
  • Pinehurst
  • Walcot East

In addition to these, work is also focused on the Broad Street area and Moredon whenever possible.

The Strategy is scheduled for a review in 2008.

The full Strategy and a Summary are available below as a downloadable pdf file:
