Homeline

What is Homeline?

Homeline is Swindon Borough Council's telephone community alarm system designed to assist elderly and vulnerable clients living in the community.

We have been in operation since 1987 and currently have in the region of 3,000 subscribers dispersed throughout the community in both council and private accommodation. In addition to these clients, we also cover 1,500 tenancies in council sheltered accommodation and various other social housing schemes when their resident warden or scheme manager is off duty.

Homeline is available to anyone living in the borough and operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. We have a team of ten mobile wardens who respond to calls for assistance, often involving and liaising with other agencies such as doctors, the police and the ambulance service when appropriate.

Our wardens are first aid trained. We have lifting cushions and hoists on our Homeline vehicles along with other equipment to assist our clients.

What Happens in an Emergency

Each client is issued with a Homeline unit and pendant. By simply touching the pendant, a client is automatically connected with the voice of a Control Room operator, who will immediately contact a friend, relative or one of our team of Homeline wardens who will attend the clients property and deal with the call for assistance. If a client cannot speak, don’t worry - the Control Room operator will assume it is an emergency and send a warden to the property as a matter of urgency.

What it Costs

The cost of this service is £16.52 per month.
