Environment

One Planet Swindon

One Planet Living .. There is No Planet B!

We're consuming resources and polluting the planet at a level the earth cannot sustain. If everyone in the world consumed as many natural resources as the average person in the UK, we'd need three planets to support us.

Three worlds

One Planet Living provides a framework that can help us to live within our fair share of the earth's resources in a sustainable way. For further information about this important principle see A Guide to One Planet Living.

Swindon's Committment

Street SceneSwindon is committed to a sustainable future and, on 13 June 2009, hosted a special conference devoted to One Planet Living. And what better place to hold the conference than STEAM ... a museum that celebrates, and is dedicated to, one of the Country's most famous and historic public transport systems, the Great Western Railway.

The Conference Details

The conference was addressed by a number of guest speakers and covered a diverse range of subjects that, when combined, provides the foundations for a sustainable future. For those wishing to hear an audio track of the conference, please follow the links below to:

Please Note: The conference ran for several hours and the audio files above are large files that, depending on the bandwidth of your Internet Connection, may take a considerable time to download. We recommend that you do not attempt to download these files unless you have broadband Internet access.
