An alternative source of rented accommodation is provided by housing associations, although most family-sized units are allocated to people nominated by Swindon Borough Council from the housing waiting list. The Council is a principal funder of housing associations operating in the area, enabling much-needed affordable housing to be developed. Housing associations in Swindon offer a range of housing to help meet a variety of needs including low cost house ownership as well as rented dwellings.
