A new children's play area provided great fun for children of all ages. Located close to the visitor centre, it has a dedicated area for toddlers and is packed with colourful, state-of-the-art play and climbing equipment. New equipment includes the Triaction Special - a huge climbing frame with masses of slides and poles to go down and a variety of equipment to climb and swing from and the Giant Octonet with its intricate maze of rope ladders to climb up.

This new play area comes with the backing of the children who use Lydiard Park. During summer 2004, over 200 children of all ages gave the project team feedback on their preference for the types of equipment they wanted to see in their new play ground.
The childrens play area was created as part of the £5 million Lydiard Park Project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, to restore historic garden features and upgrade visitor amenities.
