Most bus services in the Borough of Swindon are provided on a commercial basis by private bus companies - mostly by Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach. Details of these and other operators are given below.
Where services are not being provided on a commercial basis, the Council has powers to secure and subsidise them through contracts with bus operators. Services receiving subsidies include:
- Sunday and bank holiday services
- Some evening services
- Some off-peak daytime services
- Some works services
- Many rural services
