First Aid Courses for Business and Public.

Background

Photo of First Aid Instruction - Bandaging Swindon Borough Council has been providing First Aid and other safety training courses for its own staff who work in a large variety of posts such as Recreation, Security, Building Services, Education, Social Services and Construction since 1991. It is because of this diverse background that we feel able to open up our courses within the local community so that other companies, large or small, can take advantage of experienced, qualified trainers and the background that a large organisation can offer.

Swindon Borough Council are an HSE approved First Aid at Work Training Organization Reg No. 1021/91

There is a statutory requirement to have arrangements for First Aid provision for your employees as laid down by the H.S.E (First Aid) Regulations 1981; but in addition to that company managers & safety officers recognise the benefits to the employees and the work place of providing high quality training at a competitive price.

In structuring our courses we have listened to the comments made by candidates and managers and have tried to programme our courses accordingly.

Which Course?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced the biggest changes to the First Aid at Work regulations for over a quarter of a century. From 1 October 2009 the First Aid at Work course will become a three day course and a new one day Emergency First Aid at Work course will be created. The HSE strongly recommends that first aiders do an annual skills refresher course.
For more information on the HSE review please visit www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid.

Emergency First Aid At Work (1 day course)

If you run a small business with a low hazard environment the law may not require you to have a FAAW person; but you must have someone who will take charge in an emergency and it is recommended that some basic First Aid training is given. This may then be the course for you. Candidates should be fit enough to be able to perform Resuscitation, no formal examination takes place, but the instructor will monitor every candidate continually throughout the day to ensure they are safe and competent to carry out basic skills.

This course runs from 9.00am-4.30pm.

Paediatric Care for Children

This course meets the requirement of SureStart and OfSTED. Swindon Borough Council are currently the provider for all SureStart First Aid for Carers of Childrens courses.

Although many techniques are common to both adults and children some procedures do vary - such as Resuscitation and Choking, with some conditions particular to children, such as croup and infant convulsions.

Ideal for primary school staff, childminders, creche and holiday camp staff.

This course is 2 days in length running from 9.30am-5.00pm.
