Lydiard House, the delightful yet little-known ancestral home of the Viscounts Bollingbroke, lies in beautiful 18th Century parkland. Fantastic childrens' play areas, a lake and woodland, along with the 18th Century ornamental Walled Garden, make it a perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. For full details of Lydiard, including history of the house, special events, visitor information and school events, please go to the Lydiard Park website (www.lydiardpark.org.uk).

The House: Recommended!

There are regular family events at the House, which go down well with visitors.

Katherine Gilder took her children to Signs of Spring and she said, "They thoroughly enjoyed it, the children liked the trail, they liked the costumes when they dressed up. It was really interesting, I would recommend it for families."

Stacey Cooke attended a Teddy Bear Hunt with her son and was impressed. "The staff are really friendly. There was a quiz, craft making, and face painting - my son really enjoyed it."

Another comment from a visitor, "The House is excellently maintained. Good arrangement for access to church. Walled Garden an impressive and successful innovation.”

The Park: It's great!

"It's great, it's a slice of the country on your doorstep," says mother-of-three Jools Gauger, from Peatmoor.

"It's a great place to take friends if you haven't got a garden!" - Rachel Saunders, from North Swindon.

Other comments:

“Very pleasantly surprised at what a lovely place Lydiard Park is! Will definitely come again and recommend to friends and family.”

“The new children’s play area is amazing – well done!”
