Gender Equality Scheme

Gender Equality Scheme 2007 to 2009

From April 2007 every public authority has to publish a Gender Equality Scheme outlining how it will work to promote equality between women and men in all its services and as an employer.

Swindon Borough Council has worked with the local Equality Coalitions and our partners in the Police, Primary Care Trust, and Hospital Trust, and has developed its scheme which was approved by Cabinet on 18 April 2007.

The scheme includes:

Part A: Gender Equality Scheme

  1. What is a Gender Equality Scheme?
  2. Profile of Swindon Borough Council
  3. Swindon Borough Council Vision and Values
  4. What do we mean by Gender and Gender Equality?
  5. What have we done so far to address Gender Equality?
  6. Consultation
  7. How will the council put this scheme in to practice?
  8. Impact Assessment
  9. Resources
  10. Monitoring and Reporting

Part B: Gender Equality Action Plan

The scheme can be viewed by clicking on the following link:
