About the Committee

The Environmental, Economic & Sustainability Overview & Scrutiny Committee is responsible for reviewing any matter in relation to the local environment, the local economy and the growth and development of Swindon.

Its responsibilities include:

• Reviewing, scrutinising and developing policy recommendations
• Monitoring performance and progress against corporate priorities
• Scrutinising the Cabinet Members for:

          - Local Environment and Sustainability
          - Health, Housing & Social Care
          - Leisure, Culture and Recreation
          - Highways, Transport and Strategic Planning

• Scrutinising the Economic Development and Enterprise and Environmental Sustainability Blocks of the Local Area Agreement.

Issues that may be considered by the Committee may include:

• Environment and sustainability
• Regeneration
• Housing
• Transport and strategic transport planning
• Waste and recycling
• Economic and cultural development
• Library service.
