Dogs welcome at Lydiard Park

Lydiard Park boasts 260 acres of glorious parkland and has long been a popular destination for dog walkers. There are a number of events that take place throughout the year aimed at our dog walking community including The Lydiard Bark Dog Show, Cani-X and Dog Agility.

We welcome dogs in the grounds of Lydiard Park however with 750 000 visits per year, we need to ensure that the enjoyment of all park users is not spoilt by boisterous and excitable dogs.

We therefore ask that between 1st April to the 30th September inclusive and the times of 10am to 6pm, dogs are kept on leads in the busiest areas of the Park. These areas include outside the house, the main lawn, the barbecue area, and the sports and events field. Please see the designated area map below.

Outside of these times, dogs can continue to be allowed off lead in the majority of the Park.

Please note: dogs are not permitted in the children's play areas, the Rickyard or in the Walled Garden at any time.

These restrictions are enforceable by a Public Spaces Protection Order(PSPO) for Lydiard Park. For more information on this order, please click here.

Who is Trixie the Terrier?

Trixie the Terrier belonged to the St John family who lived at Lydiard for over 500 years. Apparently back in the day, Trixie was quite the fashion statement!
