Lydiard Revealed: Guided Tour of Lydiard House with Cream Tea
14th, 17th & 18th May
This year, we are celebrating 70 years since Lydiard House opened to the public with two new special exhibitions and a series of guided tours. Join us for an afternoon of traditional cream tea and discover the story of Swindon’s most treasured historic estate.
Originally the ancestral home of the St John family for over 500 years, Lydiard Park was saved during the Second World War when it was purchased by Swindon Corporation (now Swindon Borough Council).
In this guided tour, you will discover the colourful characters, scandals and tragedies of the St John family, illustrated by their portraits which are on display in the elegant State Rooms. Along the way, you will uncover hidden details that reveal even more about Lydiard Park’s remarkable past.
On the day, the guided tour will begin at 1pm – so please arrive at the entrance to Lydiard House Museum five minutes before.
After the tour, you will enjoy a delicious cream tea in the elegant setting of Lydiard Park Hotel. This includes scones, jam and Cornish clotted cream with tea and coffee.
Enjoy all of the above for £20 per person.
