Join us for a dance class like no other this summer as we celebrate Jane Austen’s 250^th anniversary.

On Sunday 29^th June, you are invited to step back in time to experience the world of Jane Austen with the superb Georgettes of Oxford. The Georgettes will begin with a demonstration of a set of dances from the Regency period in our historic Walled Garden at 11.30am. Afterwards, you can book onto one of our 45-minute workshops where you be able to have a go at some simple dances from the time. Each dance will be slowly walked through by the Georgette’s dance mistress, and there will be a warm-up too.

Tickets cost £12. Tickets also include admission to Lydiard House Museum, where you can make a Regency scent bag and find out more about the St John family who called Lydiard Park home for over 500 years.

Spaces are limited and tickets must be booked online in advance below.

Please note: Lydiard Park operates a policy of no refunds or exchanges for tickets booked online. Tickets may not be transferred or resold. If the event is cancelled by us, bookings will be refunded in full.

On the day of the event: please arrive at the Lydiard Park Walled Garden 10 minutes before your session start time (either 12pm or 2pm depending on your booking). If you would like to see the Georgettes dance demonstration at 11.30am, you are welcome to arrive earlier. You can visit Lydiard House Museum before or after your booked dance workshop.

If you are travelling by car, we recommend using the Hay Lane entrance to Lydiard Park as this will lead you to the closest car park to our Walled Garden. Car parking charges apply.

Information about the Georgettes of Oxford

Georgettes (GEOrgian & Regency GET-together, Talk and dancE Society) of Oxford (georgettesofoxford.com) is a community group open to all people with an interest in the 18th and early 19th century in and around Oxford. The group offer twice monthly historical dance classes for both complete beginners and advanced dancers, free talks, socials and costumed meet-ups.
